So three times in as many months, bills that I have sent out have not made it to their recipient. I've kept careful records of the checks, and then I get a phone call that a particular bill is overdue, even though it was sent weeks ago. And when I write checks, I usually do them in batches. So the OTHER checks all cleared, which tells me that I DID mail them. THis is going to kill our credit. It's so frustrating. I had Grace make a card for my dad and I sent a check to cover something that he had taken care of so that I wouldn't have to do it from long-distance. When I got to Florida, I commented on the card and check and he gave me a blank look. He'd never gotten it.
What the heck?

ReplyDeleteDo you mail the letters from the Post Office, a mail box, or from your home? I've had the same problem when I mail letters from mail boxes, because the letters get moved into bins, and if it's windy... Going to the post office is a lot more secure, in my opinion.
I've been mailing them from my house mailbox. I think I'm going to start driving them overr to the PO. . . which is a bit of a PITA because it's out of my way. . .NOTHING is on my way there. . . but I suppose it's better than missing more bills--WHICH I PAID!
ReplyDeletei've put a few on auto-pay, but we are afraid we might accidentally bounce one if we're not careful about what's in the checking account. ..
Another thought....we had several carriers busted here b/c they were stealing checks, cards, packages, etc.... You might report these to the local branch and get a trace put on the letters. (and yeah, I'm a PO nerd now thanks to the biz.)
ReplyDeleteThen again, if they aren't clearing, that probably isn't what is happening. Just a thought.
